Entry Fees

Registration Fee: $20 if you preregister;  $40 if you register at the event
Each Event: $20

All athletes pay the registration fee, plus $20 per event.  Ie. 1 event = $40;  2 events = $60.

Note that fencers may enter more than one event concurrently, but if the tournament is being held up, they may be obligated to default on one of their bouts.  There is no refund for fencers who are forced out of an event due to scheduling problems.

Venue

The tournament will run at LaSalle Fencing Club, 2155 Commercial Drive.  Doors open at 8:00 am.

Entry Requirements

Entrants in all events must be competitive members of the BCFA, CFF members of other provinces, or USFA members.  If your BCFA membership is not up to date, please renew here.  YOUR MEMBERSHIP MUST BE IN GOOD ORDER TO FENCE.  Memberships cannot be purchased at the tournament, and if you purchase your membership at the last minute, we may not be able to validate it unless you bring your receipt with you.

Entrants in Junior events must be born in 1993 or later.

At least 6 entries must be received by the pre-registration deadline for each event to proceed.  If insufficient pre-registrations are received, the event will be canceled.  If a women's event is canceled, and the men's event is not, you may transfer your entry to the men's event.

All competitors must wear fencing pants, jacket, mask, sous-plastron, and glove at all stages of the competition.  The equipment must of recent vintage, and in good condition.  Electric foil bibs are required in foil competition.

Awards

medalTrophies are awarded to the winners of the open events (provided they are returned by the previous year's winners).  One-of-a-kind pirate-themed medals and prizes (yum!) are awarded to the top-3 finishers in each event.

The team trophy is awarded to the club that collects the most medals over the whole tournament.

Referees

Referees are always in short supply, so LaSalle gratefully pays all referees who assist in the running of the tournament, at the following rates:
  • N-level    $100/day
  • P-level    $80/day
  • unrated    $60/day
In addition, all refs get coffee and a complimentary lunch.  You must register yourself as a referee at the tournament check-in to be eligible for compensation.

Register

If you do not have access to a computer, you can telephone your entry to 604.253.2513.  Please leave a contact phone number in case we need to verify information.

Preregistered entries must be received by 10pm, Thursday, January 3, 2013 to avoid the registration late fee.  Late entries will be accepted at the tournament check-in, UNLESS the event was canceled due to insufficient entries.
